Unhappy Sad news

Well, the topic pretty much sums it up. My Chelmon rostratus up and died tonight after eating like a pig today and swimming like he always does looking for something in the sand bed I came downstairs to check on my Squamosa and saw him belly up,stuck behind a power head. I inspected him but did not find any injuries or markings,he had clear eyes and looked nice and fat...but dead
R.I.P. my little friend,I really loved this little guy, even though he ate all of my pods and all...

Wow that really blows. Is that the one that you had in the 75 or the 110?

Much too sad. People sometimes laugh about us grieving over our fish but they truly are pets just like dogs or cats and we get just as attached to them.

Sorry Gene and may your friend R.I.P.

NOOOOOOOOOO I'm sorry your copperband died Gene. I'm sure you are there wondering what could have caused this. I too hate it when everything is all fine, then all of a sudden it just collapses dead.

Again, i'm sorry this happened.

It was in my 75. I can't keep one in the 110 becouse of certain clownfish being a *****y old hag

Thanks,Scott and Ilia! I can't believe it still becouse he was really healthy and ate well and I made sure that he had live brine and mysids every day.
My wife laughs as well but she just trying to joke about it to make me feel better..doesn't help
I have desided that this is it for me,no more copperbands or any fish for that matter for a while.

I'm just curious if yours was an Australian variety or the other Indo-Pacific variety. I've yet to see the difference in markings. Are there ways to tell them apart?

Thanks,

Ilham

Sorry to hear that Gene. It may have choked on some food. I lost my female clownfish of 7.5 years a couple of months ago from that.

Regards,
Kevin

Ilham,

I'm not sure if it was an Australian or not as I bought it locally and getting answer from places like that on the origin of the fiah is like pulling teeth I don't believe there is a difference in markings if it is a Chelmon rostratus,if it is other similar fish then there is a difference in amount of stripes,I believe.I don't remember the name of the other species but it is the same family.

Edit: I just remembered,Ilham .It's name is Chelmon marginalis and it has only two bars as oposed to the three that C.rostratus has.

Thanks,George. I had him for few month only and if you remember I posted a thread when he developed a popeye. He recovered from it quickly and was a very active and eating well, the abcense of pods and my hair worms is his legacy that he left behind
Here's a pic of him just a couple of weeks before this freaky death.
