Is this what you have? http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/Spec...ciesname=niger
If so, I think that you will probably be sorry at some point in the future and have to find it a new home. Also, it's likely to get a bit too large for your tank anyway. Good luck, ![]()

Hmm how bout a Blue Jaw Trigger? Not sure if Niger's will go after the inverts or not? Or are they the omnivore type? - Elmo |

I've read somewhere that Niger's and Blue JAws fall into the same category as far as Reef tamks go. Both are a risk, but safer then say a Clown trigger!! ( I have seen those in a VERY VERY large reef though)
So far so good!!!! Mike |

Niger triggers are from the Odonus family and are much more prone to misbehaving (especially when they reach 15-20") than the members of the Xanthichthys family that the Bluejaw belongs to. Also the Bluejaw only gets 6-8". A very peaceful well behaved fish. I have 2 of them.
It's not so much that they are a threat to corals or tankmates as they are to the decor. They can snap corals off by bumping into them and turn over rocks just for fun. Regards, Kevin

I'm really considering getting a blue jaw for my 75 gallon....but right now, i think it can't support more fish, i've already got 5 in there. - Elmo |

Yup... Sounds like I should've spent the extra 5 bux and got the blue jaw!!! This one didn't cost me a penny though so I can't complain. I traded some Xenia and GSP to a LFS and they gave me store credit. So it works out well for everyone!!!

Ahhhhh
Posiden
You would have to admit that fish looks hell evil Triggers have a very bad rep they love to devoid a tank of pods and just be a pain to all inverts i had to strip a tank once to remove a fin chompin trigger. |

Look at the mouth of the Triggers. If it is an upturn mouth, it is unlikely to cause harm to the corals. Small fish or crustasean, especially the one that was added after the Trigger, or if the Trigger is hungry, is another matter entirely.

Thanks Minh, thats why I felt "safe" adding this guy. I had no Idea that Nigers get to be SO HUGE though. Thats my only cause for concern now.

Will either of the Triggers go after Shrimps, Snails, etc?? I would love to get a bluejaw trigger but I am afraid it will eat my cool cleaner shrimp....

Hey Matty...
with the size of YOUR cleaner shrimp, I'd be more concerned for the Trigger!!! Seriusly though, I think the Blue Jaw would be fine... They have a pretty nice one at Go fish, it's 45 Bux though!!! |
