Question some form of living creature

Hello all,

I'm new to this hobby so please bare with me...

I got tired of my freshwater tank so I converted it into a saltwater tank. I cleaned the tank & I added chlorinated water, I added 1/2c salt:1G H20, then I put in aragonite sand & live rock, added more salt until I got the desired salinity. Then I just left the tank as is...my LFS said wait at least 3 weeks before adding fish (like damsel) to cycle the tank.

Here comes the part that confuses me. A week after I did the above stuffs, there are some creatures in my tank. Looks like verrrry, verrry small-tiny white live insects. And there are also some things in the glass of the tank that looks like a star or feathery thing, I have no idea what those are.

Is is normal to have this stuffs in a new tank? What should I do? Please help........

Welcome to Reefland and welcome to saltwater !!!As was said the "bugs" are some of the many things that come in on live rock . Just keep looking and you will be amazed at what you see. You are in fact cycling the tank now with the live rock, so putting in damsels in 3 weeks is not necessary or recommended (unless you like damsels, of course) Do a search on the board for Cycling a tank and you will find all kinds of helpful info. Be patient . You will find that saltwater is very different from freshwater. Keep an eye on your water parameters and you will be able to tell when the cycle is over . Then you can SLOWLY start stocking your tank.
