Thanks guys!
I love my brittle stars and my blak one is approx. 12-14" accross Every time I see one of those huge legs sticking from under a rock it freaks me out but I found them to be great scavengers and love to see them grow this well.Elmo, the red one is always out and about all day but banded one is more secretive...untill food hits the water, of course I feed every one a nice size silverside every day and they seem to be happy.![]()

The red star is out, even with the lights on? Mine (black brittle) is very sensitive to light and immediately backs away from light. It is huge though, not sure on actual size, but roughly 10-12" accross.

IMO, ophiuroid stars (brittle and serpent stars) are an invaluable part of the clean up crew of a tank. It is inevitable that something will die in your tank, be it snails/crabs/fish etc, and these stars are the best at cleaning them up before they foul the water. Very interesting creatures as well.
