Devils Hand

I moved my 54G Reef tank a few weeks ago, and since then everything has been in check. All of the corals look excellent. I do have some very slight brown algae on the glass, but I know that I need to get some snails. I purchased a nice looking Devils Hand about 1 week ago. The Devils hand looked great at the LFS. The polyps have not opened yet, since I put it in my reef tank. I have (1) 175W MH 5500k, and (2) 20W NO Actinic lighting. The Devils Hand is standing straight up and its not hunched over, but no polyps are extending.

Any ideas? The other corals in my tank look awesome. My bubble coral has been expanding so well, that it must be close to 10" wide.

Thanks,

Devils Hand
Greetings Hooked4life Devils hand coral as per normal leathers tend to crack the sads when moved about or changing a skin you certainly have enough light for him so the best bet is to be patient and let him settle. Ive had my devils hand for over 3 years and still counting almost every 5 weeks it closes up and a polyp wont be seen for over a week and just looks terrible then it will shed its skin and open up enourmous and look spectacular. These guys are very hardy but a bit sensitive to other corals close by . Mine has just shed a skin and is looking great so ill post a pic later for you .
Good luck

The finger leather started to show its polyps last night. No changes were made to the tank, just time. I will post a picture in a few days.

Thanks..

Devil's Hand - Shed Skin

This site is awesome. Just today my smaller Devil's Hand frag was standing tall but not grey in color with no little spikes. The other frag was doing fine, it had not opened for a few days. Then I noticed this skin over the frag. I moved the rock and the skin floated away. It turned color and it's little spikes are back. YEA!! I just love the info provided on this site.
