Shots from the Side (Pics)

I captured these two photos today, they seemed to show a different perspective than the typical shots head on ...

Looks Good

Looks Good,

I got some end pics too .....

My tank is not quite as clean, but the reflection off the tank surface looks pretty cool.

Nice shots!

Hey Dew, what depth is your SSB (shallow sand bed) at now?

In some spots it is about 1/4" and in other spots it is bare bottom completely.

I'm setting up my 45 gallon cube now and have a fine particle sand bed that is about 1" deep all over. What do you think about having it that deep? I am also using my MR-2 skimmer on this tank. Sump and tank volume about 60 gallons all together. I am running a Mag 24 split by 2/1" out puts into the tank. I had InterAmarican put a 1.5" bulkhead in the overflow to accomidate my 1.5" Durso. I estimate the volume that will be pushed into the tank to be 1800-2000 gal/hour, turnover to be 44 times per hour. I will have to turn it down if I get sand storms though.

I was running nearly 3000 gph with a 4 to 6 inch sandbed with very little sandbed swirling problems in my 75 gallon tank. I am really liking the near bare bottom of this tank.

Yep, I can run the Mag 24 full blast with no problem.

CAreefer,
Excellent shot! Great color rendition. The Tang looks exactly the color it should. Often they come out a purple color which makes the rest of the picture suspect as to the true colors too.

Regards,
Kevin

Thanks Kevin, I know zip about camera type things and just got lucky. The colors as shown are how they look in real life. I have always been jealous of your shots and tanks as well. You are as they say "Da Man". Not sucking up or anything, but you are one of the few hobbiest I strive to be as good as.

Here's a side shot I took last year with a cheesy old HP-318 camera. Not as clear as some other shots I took but colors are true, which is a big problem with my new camera

For the reference I put a shot that I took with the Nikon(second pic) which is not even close to the real colors,at least to my eye.

CAReefer,

VERY cool shot. That clam looks BIG! Does your clown host in it all the time??

Thanks Diva, The clown and clam have been together now for nearly 3 years. I have an older shot of the two together I will stick in the reply. When I got the clam 3 years ago, it was less than 2". It is easily 7" now and weighs close to 4 lbs. The clown did have a mate up until a year or so ago, but unfortunately it experienced an untimely death of suspicious circumstances.
Thanks again for the compliment

CAReefer

Hey Gene... I thought you had a TON of Sun Glows in there with how pink some of your pics have been... LOL

Can you set White Balance on your camera? I'll bet that will help clear it up. If not I can mail you a CD of a VERY POPular photo editing software to help with color correction....

Hi Mike,

Yes,I can set the white balance on my camera and I've been plying with it a lot lately. That pinkish shot was when I first got my camera and really didn't know much about it.It was shot with everything auto but no flash.I've gotten better with it,I think, but I still can't get the blue to show up...it looks purple if I don't use flash(and you know what flash does to my camera ).
Now, you got me interested, what type of software are you talking about?
I currently use ACDSee 6.0 software plus I have the Nikon software that came with the camera(it's pretty good but can't do squat for the color correction or the exposure).
Oh yeah, what will it cost me?
