Congratulations and welcome back golfish!
It looks to be drilled for a closed loop, what are your plans there? Also, how much water do you expect will flow through the overflow? ![]() Scott Z. |

Scott,
I'm only looking for about a 1000 gph through the overflow, I'm guessing it will do twice that. The slots aren't ll that big tho. I'm not big on putting a lot of water through the sump. I'm looking at around 2200 gph on the closed loop. Got to tell ya, Lee Mar's a top notch place to deal with. There tanks are second to none. The only huge draw back is the price. |

Congratulations! Nice tank. What's the deal with the location of the overflow compartment? Is that their standard placement on Euro braced tanks?

Ninong,
I have to admit that the overflow does look funky. I probably set it off the back wall about 2" more then I should have. The reason I did it was to be able to use all four sides of the overflow and hide the closed loop bulkhead. I can also hide something like a Mag 12 behind it if I wanted to add more flow, kind of an internal closed loop. Once I get the live rock in place it will look fine. I had a hard time deciding between IA and Lee Mar. I've seen some nice IA tanks and I've seen some not so nice IA tanks. The horror stories I've read over and over again from people who've ordered from IA really didn't scare me too much because Mitch always seems to fix things. My buddy Ali (Reef Project) has order a few tanks from Mitch, not to mention my LFS "The Piece of the Reef" (Steve Tyree's home LFS) has been getting tanks from IA for years. I guess the bottom line was that wanted to keep things and my money local. |

I was thinking as I was reading that you were able to get this one locally and save on shipping costs. You have any other equipment lined out for it yet?

I did keep all the equipment from the old tank...Euro Reef CS6-3, Geo Ca Reactor, MyReef Kalk reactor, 2x400 PFO HQI ballast, Radium bulbs and reflectors, 1x400 watt PFO standard ballast, Liter Meter, Amp Master 3000 and 2x1" Sea Swirls for closed loop, sump, 2xMag12's, AquaLogic 1\3hp chiller, Hec, I even have some of my sps at a buddies house..about the only thing I need is Rock and sand. Well, that's what I tell my wife. |

Hey old buddy! I would like to see a picture of the stand and how high you intend to place it. I would also like to here your opinion on the glass.
Welcome back!

Schwinggggg!
I wandered if you fell off the face of the earth! Totally understand about the issue of no tank for long period of time Mark
The tank is all ACES! I Kinda like the Oflow where it is....But of course I have questions....Ok..From what I read above your gonna make it 4 side viewable? If so then I take it all of your equipment has to fit under the tank? The closed loop is plumbed through the Oflow box? Both inputs and outputs? Can you explain the holes in the euro bracing. So the tank is 22" wide and 26" tall right? How wide is the eurobracing? Welcome back....im just glad to hear everything is ok ![]()

Scott, I'm pretty well set, not sure when I'll get the tank wet tho...probably after the holidays. I still need to get the power ran to the closet.
Doug, Yes, the holes cut and the stand is built. I could get it done this weekend but I don't have power to the closet yet. I'm just waiting for my electrician (sp?) buddy to come wire the two 30 amp circuits. I can run a power strip from the closet nest door that houses the central air unit if I need to cure the rock when I get it. rededteck, The stand is made out of 2x4's and 4x4's so it isn't pretty. Its going to be in the closet so looks isn't needed. The closet the tanks going into is under a staircase so I was limited because of the sharp angle. The stand is 27" tall. Only the front panel is Starphire glass (that's all people will see) Its much clearer then the regular glass. Rocky, NO, only the front panel will be viewed. In fact I just got through painting the other 3 sides black. All the equipment will either go in the closet or in the crawl space under the central air unit next door to the closet. The tank is 22" tall and 26" wide. The small holes on the back corners are for sump returns (1" bulkheads) and the big holes are for the 2x1" Sea Swirls. The large hole in the back is for the 1.5" bulkhead that will feed the AM3K(closed loop) Man, I guess my grammer is real bad. The Euro bracing is 5" wide at the ends and 4" wide in the front and back. I saw a tank a while back that had the overflow set off the back wall like this one. I thought it was a good idea because you can use all four sides of the overflow, not to mention hide a lot of stuff behind it. Poseidon, No water yet...I'm just glad I got the tank, next step is to get it in the house.. So who wants to come over Sunday and help me move it in? |

Too bad you live on the other coast or else I would be there yesterday. I just moved my 220 gallon tank to another room. Thank goodness this tank wasn't glass or I would be receiving Hernia surgery.
I cannot wait for the pictures. Did you make this yourself? I want to make my own as my next project!
