Technological advances from Europe?

Anybody have any inkling what other reef technology is out there other than North America that could benefit U.S. reefers?
I have seen some of the deltec reactors (fluidized) but I am not sure what is so different from the reactors we have. Is it because of the media used or how the water flows?
We have seen T5s come in the past year or so and all that HQI lighting stuff but what do we expect in the next year or two?
What are the europeans using in terms of wavemaking? Anything similar to seaswirls? Or are they using the tunze streams?
