That front view looks MOST excellent! How large is the closet it is in? Going to be any trouble squeezing all your gadgets in there with it?

There's plenty of room in there for eveything I want, plus there's a crawl space next door for the chiller and the ballast. I'm not a huge fuge fan but if I go bare bottom I might add a small one. |

Are you undecided on bare-bottom? I am going to rip our tank apart after the 1st of the year and I am seriously considering the bare-bottom approach. By doing this I think I will loose some waste processing capabilities however I will be able to really crank up the current and keep the waste in suspension to be filtered out; either mechanically or manually. I really like my DSB but the bare-bottom gives the ability to add a lot mroe current, is less messy and less costly.

I'm going to go with about a 1" aragonite sand bed and load it up with critters. I'm not a fan of algae scrubbers but after doing the plumbing yesterday I found out I'm going to have room for a 30 gal fuge that will hold a deep sand bed. If the 1" sand bed doesn't work out it should be easy to suck out. When you say "crank up the current" what gph are you talking about? I guess a better question would be what turn over rate? Rocky, Its ok, we're both getting old.. O-bla-de, finally got the new tank |
