AHHH HELP Peppermint shrimp attacking my clam

AHHH HELP Peppermint shrimp attacking my clam

What he hell???? i thought peppies were reef safe can i do anything to stop this if its not too late??? looks like he was having some lunch in my crocea clam help!!!!! any thoughts????

There are two possibility: You may have one of the predatory shrimp due to mis-ID, or it is the Crocea that is dying. Shrimps are often clean-up creature and will finish off sick animal. We see this even with cleaner shrimp. You can protect the clam with a basket or remove the shrimp. Eitherway, your Crocea will most likey die. His death likely not due to the shrimp. While this may be very hard for you to believe but it is true.

They are not 100% reef-safe. They will go after food and in so doing they sometimes injure LPS, etc. Also, as Minh mentioned, sometimes camel shrimp are misidentified and sold as peppermint shrimp.

Thanks for the help guys unfortunately i think the first assumtion was right i think maybe the clam was sick and the shrimp was just trying to clean up the remains so to speak unfortunately lost the clam thanks for the replies as always you guys are a great help.
