PowerHead Question?
Whats the best method to keep the power heads mounted to the glass? I,m running three powerheads in my 55 and have a heck of a time keeping them suction cupped to the glass. Even keeping the glass and suction cups cleaned off. there has to be a easier way. My tanks been up for about 3 years, but i,m just now getting back into, keeping it cleaner, getting my clean up crew back together. But everythings back up and looking good again. Had my Gold striped maroon clown for 3 years, Pajama cardinal for 2 1/2 years, so I,m pretty happy with that. Put in a yellow tang 2 weeks ago (Last one died after having it for 2 1/2 years.) Have 7 astrea snails which are doing agreat job, so i,ll hold off on more of them for a while. Emerald crab which I only see every 2 or 3 days. Thinking of adding one more smaller fish, what would get along with the three i have now? had a yellow canary in my first tank, and a 6-line wrass. I may go with another 6-line I realy liked it, but found out the hard way why I needed a full cover on my tank. He made a suicide dive.

There is an easier way with the powerheads...but its not cheap...I buy cleaning magnets for each of my power heads and on the part of the magnet that goes into the tank glue the bracket that the suction cups go on (throw them suction cups in the trash) then presto you have a mobile powerhead that you can move anywhere! I gave up on the suction cups long ago! As far as the fish goes I would go with something small if you do put another fish in there....maybe your pushing your limits on your bioload, and thats why the tang died....I know 2+ yrs seems like a long time and Im not part of the tang police or anything, just bringing some constructive criticism to the table for ya. Im very partial to lawnmower blennies, and the only reason I put wrasses in my tank is if they are gonna eat flatworms or other pest, but thats just me....I dont like fish that prey on pods and worms wich most wrasses do...but hey I have a canary wrasse in my 75g to control flatworms and a problem nudibranch that eats montipora supposedly. Boy that is an Expensive option.... LOL I'm sure it works AWESOME though. I have seen a few tanks that had U shaped strips of acrylic glued to the side to serve a PH bracket... Permanent solution, but you lose mobility. The side strips had a "channel" cut in them so they were just like the Suction cup mount that comes with Aqua Clear power heads!!! It was pretty cool!!

There is no use trying to mount PH on glass. It will fail. The question is when will it fail. You can make a hook to attach the PH to. If you have a saw and some acrylic, you can make one very easy with strips of acrylic and weldon. You can then attach your PH on these clear strips and hook it to the side of the tank.
