My Website Is Updated!!! (Finally)

...Yeah, 'bout time, I know. But for those who care, this one IS a big one: lots of new text (covers Feb. '03-Oct. '03, including last summer's Crystal Sea/ Instant Ocean crisis) and nearly 100 new pictures! So please stop by when you have the time. I'd appreciate your thoughts.

OMG what an update, 21 pages of it! You have one of the most detailed, personal reef pages around and do a fantastic job with it!

My only gripe about the whole site is the text seems so bunched together, it makes it difficult from line to line. Do you hear that much?

Awesome job and keep it up!

Actually, my webguy heard it from me a couple days ago! He thought it was fine but at HIS age he can read text that small from across the room. In any event, it's just one of the things that'll be addressed in the NEXT update (which, believe it or not, I'll be starting on in about three weeks). Thanks for the corroboration.

Actually, I wasn't bothered at all by the text. (go figure...)

I LOVE all your Euphillid pics and your tang page is my favorite of the "Fish" section. If it were MY tank, I'd tell the tang police to get something important to worry about -- it's a HUGE tank.

I have not yet had time to read everything -- I missed the salt switch section though.. where is it?

It begins on the fourth page of the Winter Update's State Of The Tank Message.

Mike,

I just finished reading through all of the new stuff. Thank goodness I had already read the old stuff.

Does your web guy realize that besides the fact that the print is hard to read, there are pieces of words missing at the end of each page?

I will second the motion on your M-1 Maxima. Such an unusual color! Very nice.

How do you like your Peppermint Hog (Bodianus masudai)? Any problems between him and your wrasses? There are a few available right now and I am considering perhaps getting one.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Unfortunately, my pseudochromis ran my pep up and out of the tank, THROUGH the eggcrate, to it's death. Other than that, I really enjoyed it; they're perpetual energy machines, a great deal fun to watch as they seem to want to examine every nook and cranny in the tank no matter how small. Obviously, non aggresive tankmates are a priority for long term success.

Wow, sorry to hear that. I have a Pseudochromis fridmani but he is the most docile fish in the tank. The Foxface and the Fairy Wrasse compete with each other at feeding time but the Dottyback hangs back out of the fray and gets whatever comes his way. He pretty much keeps to himself. None of my fish have shown any aggression at all but my fairy wrasse will take food out of the mouth of the foxface if it is large piece of shrimp or squid and part of it is sticking out. I can't say they ever fight over anything but they do compete like crazy to see who can eat the most before it's all gone.

Does your pseudo bother your wrasses?

I no longer attempt to keep any wrasses, specifically because of the pseudo. This is especially unfortunate because Cirrhilabrus wrasse include some of my very favorite fish period. I'd say the pseudo has probably caused the deaths of 5 of them over the years, mainly by causing them to jump out of the tank. Mine is an Austrailian pseudo, btw. It's been with me over four years, impossible to catch, and with my luck in these matters, will probably live to be 100. It's a constant reminder to do the proper research before putting ANYTHING in the tank. If I had, I would've known that the species they seem to harass the most are the similarly shaped wrasse and hogfish.

*sigh*
