Question on water and bubbles in tank
This is a 2 part question.. i have a 50 gal set up with a SeaClone SKimmer. i have noticed that recently that there is a film on the top of my water throught the entier tank. What is this cause by and what can i do to get rid of it.? i do have a skimmer so not sure what to do.
#2 My SeaClone Skimmer mixes a lot of water within itself with air bubbles. DOes this oxegenat the water? and if so is it still necessary to have a air stone directly in the tank itself? |

Hi new2salt2!
2. - Skimmers do oxygenate the water and you are correct, the air stone is not needed. 1. - I do not know what the film is technically, but it is common when overflows and sumps are not used to surface skim the water. It is some type of waste that either 1 needs to be removed via surface skimming and then filtered or 2 by aiming a powerhead towards the surface to keep it from accumulating and therefore leaving it in the water column hopefully to be filtered.
