Cyclop-eeze
Cyclop-eeze
![]() I was thinking of getting this stuff to feed to my fish and sps corals, with the flake and pellets that i put in my automatic feeding. I was just wondering what you guys think of this product, especially those people that keep acros and anthias? Andrew |

Andrew,
I feed the freeze dried version of Cyclop-Eeze myself. http://cyclop-eeze.com/ I probably feed it at least three times a week. Most of the time I just add about 1/4 teaspoon of it into the cup of tankwater that I am using to thaw out other frozen foods. At least once a week I feed it at night about 30 or 40 minutes after the actinics have gone off. I soak it in a glass of tankwater for several minutes before adding it to the tank. When I feed it at night it's intended for the corals. I leave the main system return pump running but I turn off the skimmer and I remove the foam block from my sump so that the Cyclop-Eeze that goes over the corner overflow into the sump will be recycled back up to the tank by the return pump. When I feed it during the day I just include it with whatever else I am feeding at the time. I usually turn off my skimmer and all pumps for about ten or fifteen minutes. The freeze dried version has a tendency to want to float on the surface. That's why I soak it first and then I stir the surface of the tank a few times during the feeding since I have no powerheads in my tank. My Sea-Swirls aren't doing anything with the system return pump off. They offer a frozen version over here but it comes in rather large blocks and would be very expensive to ship. I have to get the freeze dried stuff online because none of the stores near me will carry it in either version. I have three fish in my tank: A Foxface Rabbitfish, a Pseudochromis and a Fairy Wrasse and they all seem to eat it but they don't really go crazy over it like some people say. Maybe they would if I fed large lumps of it at once but I don't. I'm using it mainly for the corals. I really don't have all that much experience with it as I have only been using it for about two or three months but I believe it is worthwhile trying. Just be aware that if you feed it dry from an automatic feeder virtually all of it will float on the surface and go over the overflow. That's probably not much of a concern as long as there is nothing in your sump to prevent it from being returned by your main system pump. I forgot to mention that I sometimes feed it very early in the morning before any of the lights come on. Again for the benefit of the SPS.

I use it almost everyday. I grab a big pinch and swirl it around under the surface. Ninongs right it does float to the top though. I also turn of my return pump while feeding this, If I don't it all ends up in the sump or skimmer and does my corals no good. 1 positive that is very evident is my Blastomoussa has really gotten its red color back, and my red mushrooms are VERY red!!!

i was going to use it by putting it in the 1 litre glass jug that i use for my feeding.
i do this by getting the jug and filling with ro water, then sprinkling in some ocean nutrition formula 1, 2 and reef, and then using a air pump keep it saturated and stirred, and then using a peristaltic pump dose it for 5 mins every hour and i refil every day. so it should get dosed this way, should it be okay? |
