My new Maxima

Here are two T. maxima I got from Rob at East Coast Clams. Farm raised, very healthy and, IMO, extreemly beautiful. I am back in the clams business after the tank crash. I must have lost several thousand dollars worth of clams.

Minh,

The teardrops are wild, not farm-raised , right?

All of them are great looking!

I did not get the teardrops from East Coast Clams.
These clams are from Viet Nam. Essentially all the Maxima from Viet Nam are teardrop. Some are very colorful also.

How is the harvesting of maximas from Vietnam? I always thought they had a low survival rate because those guys that harvest them literally yank them of the rock.

That was a few years ago. Poor harvest plus bad transport and the mortality were near 100%.
All the teardrops are from Viet Nam, even if some seller report otherwise. The ones I got was extreemly healthy. Mortality was 2% and it was due to lost of water.

They are so unique. The teardrop Maxima are Maxima from Viet Nam. I am sure in a few years we will have teardrop clams from farms. I wonder what kind of colors a cross of teardrop Max with Ultra blue Max from the Red sea would be like.
