I,m also ditching the hood and going with pc lighting. I'll basically be keeping mushroom, polyps, and other low light coral. Would also like to try some zenia. If anybody out there has some frags cheap or better yet free, let me know?

Looks like you got a nice setup. How come you are getting rid of the hood and what lighting do you have now?

You may want to look at VHO's or T5s as alternative to PCs.

I have 6 40w reg flou. lights. I've only been running 2 bulbs on it for about the last year. Thats one of the reasons my rock has lost most of its corraline. I seen some T5's on ebay but there new to me, I don't realy know much about them. VHO's are a little to pricey, don't realy need that much light for what i'll be keeping. I have been looking around on ebay, maybe I'll find some VHO's i can afford. (The hood I have know I have to remove from tank any time I need to get in the tank. It looks great but, is pretty much useful.

Try www.hellolights.com for VHOs

Anyways, what lighting in terms of PCs (watts? length, how many bulbs) are you planning to use.
