Cleaner shrimps.

Cleaner shrimps.

Hiys guys, i have a 100 gal sps frag tank, it has a small snad covering but not under the rocks, and a turn over of 30x. I am just wondering about clener shrimps and blood shrimps. For a cleaner crew already i have around 40 turbo snails and 24 red-legs, and will be getting 12 each of nassarius and cerith snails. Bit i waswondering if the tank would benefit from the addition of a cleaner or blood shrimps?

Also is one type better then the other as i prefer the look of blood shrimps?

And are they best kept singerly or in pairs etc?

Thanx
Andrew

Hey Andrew
I would try and stay away from the blood shrimps, they prey on microfauna alot more than the skunk cleaners, I personally prefer the skunk cleaners over the other shrimps IMO they are better at actually cleaning then the others....plus they are kewl looking I personally wouldnt get a pair unless you have 100g+ size tank...thats just me though. I like to leave room for peppermints too if I need to eradicate some aiptasias later on down the road. HTH

I have heard that blood shrimps will pick at coral polyps so I would steer clear of them.

I wish I could keep shrimp in my tank. I must have a PREDATOR of some sort, cause every time I add peppermint shrimp, they dissappear after a few days or a week. I know its prob NOT a mantis, cause I never hear the clicking or tapping sound. It COULD be some sort of Crab though, I have pulled out 2 brown, red eyed, pointy clawed, little devils. It is SO FRUSTRATING!!! ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!

ohh harg luck, i reckon i have a mantis in mine cause i alwayshere the occasional cracking sound in the tank. and got very worried wheni first heard it as i thought it was the tank crashing and 100 gal was going to come crashing onto the floor! but its been going on for ages and ive checked for cracks everywhere so i reckon its got to be something like that!
