Help with ID

Hey just recentsly there have been these small organisms on the glass of my tank and I was just curious if anyone had any idea what they were. The look like little hairy specs. They don't move and the snails don't really pay attention to them, any ideas? Thanks

There are so many different things that pop up on our glass and rocks and such that without a photo it's usually kinda hit/miss on ID's. But in this case I would suggest that you check in to serpallid worms. Probably spelled that wrong, but it sounds like I wrote it. They are harmless filter feeders. If you look closely, very closely and you see a small spiral from the center to the outside, you have a pretty positve ID. Good luck. If this doesn't sound like what you have, try to shoot a pic and let's have a look.

I don't think they are worms, I do have the worms you are referring to and they are not the same. I'll see if I can shoot a pic but they are super tiny. I have lots of copepods and amphipods and they don't look like any pods I've seen before. Thanks for the feedback.

Even if someone could point me to a good site that might provide some info that would be helpful. It seems that the snails get irratated by them so I would like to know what the best way to get rid of them is, thanks!

Scroll down a bit and you'll find a pic.

I also have these in my tank. They have not bothered anything. I suspect there has to be something out there that would love to feast on these. My plans are to get a sixline wrasse. We will see if he likes these. ( I am not getting the wrasse because of these guys)

Thanks for the info! I'm glad to find out what they are because they are multiplying like crazy and if I clean the glass they end up floating around until they stick back onto the glass. Thanks for doing the research Chris!
