Illinois reefers speak up!
Looking for reef keepers in Illinois, Chicago land area. Curious as to what fish stores are frequented.

i wouldnt call myself chicagoland by any meens but im in that area.....i live in a tiny town south of joliet so i go up chicagos way alot for fish/coral etc.... there is one in park ridge called the living sea, its kinf of pricy and by kind of i meen it is pricey for corals mainly. they have an excellent selection but kinda get roguh on the wallet. they also raise the black tip reef sharks for the shedd aquarium which is open to public view and have public feedings. so if you got rug rats it distracts them while you do your thing
then there is scotts pet shop on wolf road its ok for fish and poor for corals.....they nice sized store but dont really impress me all that much. then in old town chicago there is the old towne aquarium which was with out a doubt my fav. place...excellent selection for anything sw. this is in chicago itself so you pay a chicago price sometimes but their stock is great. the rest ive been to i was either un impressed or was not happy w/ one aspect of their set up. there is one store schaumburg i liked but the name escapes me at the moment. where have you been frequenting?Jon |

We go to a place in fox lake called Something Fishy. Best prices around. His sps corals are 45.00 55.00 & 75.00. All other corals are $35.00. Great prices on his fish. Maybe worth the drive if you are dropping that much cash. He also has sharks. That is the only store that we deal with now. You should take a drive up and check it out. He is a little low on fish right now because the airlines will not ship. Temp is too low. But anyway, somewhere you might want to check out if you want to take a drive.

hey guys, i live about 20 mins away from o'hare airport, and ive been to the living sea aquarium, i would have to say it is a pretty amazing store, but some things are just a little over priced, also ive been to a place called Tropical World Pets, this place is actually pretty good, its kind of small, but they have the basic things you need, im not even sure if they even sell any kind of corals though.
