Clown for a Rose BTA

Hey all....

Just wondering.....those of you that have a BTA, what type of clownfish host it? I had an ocellaris clown when I got my anemone, but he never even got close to it, and since has dissappeared. I've heard of maroon gold-bar clowns hosting a BTA, but those get huge.....I like 'em, but not sure if I want one yet.

What about Clarkii? I know there's clownfish-anemone charts out there, but wasn't able to find one. Thanks.

Amphiprion clarkii accepts all ten of the clownfish-hosting sea anemones. Entacmaea quadricolor (BTA) is the natural host for:
  • Premnas biaculeatus
  • Amphiprion akindynos
  • A. allardi
  • A. bicinctus
  • A. chrysopterus
  • A. clarkii
  • A. ephippium
  • A. frenatus
  • A. mccullochi
  • A. melanopus
  • A. omanensis
  • A. rubrocinctus
  • A. tricinctus
Even though it is not a natural host for A. ocellaris, that clownfish usually accepts it in captivity. Your experience is the exception that proves that it doesn't always accept it.

P.S. -- Yes, female Maroons do get large, but Clarkii clowns get large, too, and BOTH of them do, not just the females.

Beware the CLOWNS!! My female Ocellaris attacks my hand every time I put it in there... And the pair are actually hosting in my Pulsating Xenia. It looks pretty cool!!

Ninong.....

Does that list include the Tomato Clown? (I'm not so hot at binomial nomenclature yet). Just wondering. My LFS has a cool little tomato clown on sale, they said it would host a BTA, but I'm starting to trust them less and less.....
