Question Salt Question

Does anyone have a preference over Instant Ocean and Coralife. I've been using Coralife for the last year and have yet to see any adverse effects on my tank. Just curious if there would be a benefit from switching to Instant Ocean. Or if there is another recommendation for salt. Thanks

Ryan

I switched from Reef Crystals to Crystal Sea Bioassay, and I did lose 1 coral. It was a Pocilliapora that I had for a LONG time. But everything else seems to be doing great. This coral went from a deep brown to almost white, then it expelled it's Zooanthi (sp?) ove the course of 3 months or so. I'm blaming the salt, cause that is the only thing that changed. I'm still using it though because everything else is doing so well.

I've never seen any real benefits from one to the other...back in college I worked in fish stores where they used only Instant Ocean or only Coralife, and one that they switched off depending on what they could get cheaper from the distributer. All those show tanks were fine and the animals thrived. As for me, I use Instant Ocean, and it works for me....a buddy of mine uses the Coralife..we trade coral cuttings all the time, and all our animals do great.

Just stick with the brand you like...and if one's cheaper, hey, why not?
