mushroom placement?

I have my mushrooms (Frilly green tip) about 1/3rd. the way up my tank. I've noticed alot of people just place there mushroom rock in the sand. Any cons to putting them on the sand? I realy like the look of them on the bottom of the tank. Look great when they spread to the sand.

darn.. i typed but then gay error..

but basically people put it in the sand, because they wanna easily harvest the shrooms when they spread like weed.. plus due to spacing, they reserve higher elevation to other corals that need more light, but up to u to aquascape ur tank.. putting in the sand is just fine in my opinion.. !!

I think another reason you see them in the sand is because they require less light then other corals. The lower you go the less intense the light is.

Mushrooms

Just be a bit wary of them cause they can sure pack a punch when it comes to stinging other corals as far as light i have some shrooms under 250 watt halides at the top of the rock no worries at all they expand huge and really take up a lot of prime space but look nice the same shrooms on the dsb are still big but not as expanded. One of my little regrets was putting so many in my tanks because they will take over your rockwork if you let them i would have to have at least 200 in my main tank all different types every now and then i scrape a heap off and give them away .
