why does my LOA 65 watt go off from time to time?

hey i was just curious why my LOA refugium lamp goes off from time to time.. it turns on/off, and seemed to be working fine for one day, but the next day, it went out, and the switch for it doesn't work?.. could it be that the lamp wire is not suffice?... or what not? i noticed that the lamp wire i bought has many strands, versus the 2 wire coming out of the fixture (2-1 thick solid wiring)..
what is the reason?.. bad connections?

You know most LOA's have a photo diode in them that determines lighting around them and turns them off when they detect an outside light source. Usually they come w/replacement caps that are black...but you can see the little photo diode has a clear plastic cap if you just put a piece of duct tape or black elec. tape over it then that will fix yer problem.

These lights where made to turn off when outside and the sun comes up, so thats the only thing I could think of.
