In the past 2 months i have lost 3 fish due to jumping out of my tank. one was a diamond back gobie which was kinda expected but the other 2 seem strange to me. a blue tang and a maroon clown. what could of caused this. an ideas would be great thanks.

Are there any other tank mates that could be freaking the fish out and causing them to jump? Also, do you have a grounding probe set up to prevent stray voltage?

Both Scotts points are great, also check for NH3 and NO2, both those toxins make is difficult for fish to breathe. Did you notice any thing unusual about them, were they "gilling" really hard, or maybe scratching on rocks?

other factors...

i have 2 cleaner shrimp 1 blood shrimp i lawnmore blenny and a 6 line wrasse. the diamond gobie jumped before i added the blenny but both the clown and tang jumped after i added the blenny. i have testem my water everything seems to be fine. no my fish were not gilling everything looked normal till i couldnt find them. if there wasa pest in the tank i would say it would have been the blue tang he was the most dominate when it came to eating and making his home. im dont have voltage thing im not sure what that is. but ill look into it. any other feedback would be great. also if i had a piece of glass cut to go around my filter. and cover the top of the tank would this take away from the intesity of my halide. and if so how much. thanks,
Jason

Yes Jason it would take away form the intensity, but the bigger issue would be HEAT. The glass top will keep the water in not allowing the cooling effect of evaporation. You can look at Home Depot or Lowes and near the suspended ceiling supplies you will find Egg crate. White plastic panel with tons of little squares in it. Put it over your tank instead of glass. Now you still get teh cooling effect of evaporation, and keep your fishies in the tank.

And here is a Ground Probe
