    Tear in Anemone

Hey, just like to start off sayin hi, im new to the board

I just replaced my small buble anemone with a larger one, and i think i accidently tore its foot a little bit, i was wondering how they handle this, and if its like a serious injury? it was about half a cm to 1cm long, tiny bit of inside came out, not much at all.

Just a bit worried thats all.

He also hasnt opened up to its full size, its quite bunched up, any suggestions on how to get it to open? I gather ppl will say just leave it heh.

    Thanks

Hi Juvv and Welcome to Reefland!

I'm not going to ask you how you managed to injure your anemone but I'd tell you that you are right about leaving it alone for a spell and let it heal. If conditions are optimal for your anemone in your tank the healing should be quite fast. It is not opening much right now becouse probably 1) it is still acclimating and 2) it is injured, as you said.

I would recomend trying to feed it,if it accepts food and give it time to heal itself. Foot inguries are not uncommon and anemones, such as Entacmaea qudricolor, are pretty resilient and with proper condition and care can recover rather rapidly.

    Good luck!

ok, thanks alot for your help
ill have to get some pics of the anenome, im not even too sure what type it is, so maybe you guys can help me properly identify it

ill feed it in the next few days, its opened up a bit more, so looks like the little tear isnt troubling it too much.

    thanks again!

If the condition of the tank is good, BTA usually heal well without problem. Of then people reported taht they go through the PH result in 4-6 smaller BTA. These guys are tough if your tank condition is OK.
