The water in my tank is weird

well today i was staring at my aquarium and the water just doesnt seem right... the water is kinda weird looking. im not sur if the LR is causing the water to turn greenish or what... because maybe of the algae growth which is giving off a green reflection?...can anybody help me? thanks.

I'm hoping that your thread will be moved to more appropriate forum so that it can get beter exposure and a better chance to get an answer.

In the meantime, can you describe better what exactly you are seen and what type of algae that you see growing on your rock?
Also, you can take a clear glass and put some water from the tank in it and compare to what it looks like in the clear glass. However, in the new tank with cycling rock, the greenish appearance is not uncommon due to rock getting a green hue to it.Could be just a visual trick,if you know what I mean.

Edit: Oops, I guess it's been moved Thanks,Scott!

yes,it is the correct place. This particular thread was moved from the general discussions forum where people discuss other, none reef issues
If you have a problem with filtration or any other equipment component then you'd be better off posting it in the filtration and equipment forum at the top of the page where all forums are listed.
I personally think that this forum has generally the heaviest traffic and you bound to get an answer pretty quick.
I personally check all the forums when I have the chance and see if i can help in any way but this forum is the first I check. Scott(Reefland) and Ninong are almost always online and so is Poseidon and you should be able to get help pretty fast.

hey gene thanks for the reply... i dont think i have probs with my filtration... i have 35 gal sump tank which i think is too small but works for me in the meantime... i will try getting some of the water into clear glass container... is it normal though for algae to be so thick? mine is getting really thick especially where the current is strong. again thanks.

Your right, it does look a bit "cloudy" but then again it could be the picture. Are you sure that the front pane of glass is clean? Sometimes they can get a very fine film of grean algae and can play tricks on your eyes?

Are you using NSW (Natural Sea Water) or ASW (Artificial Sea Water)?
