Flatworms, and i thought i got away with it!?!
Flatworms, and i thought i got away with it!?!
I have seen these reproduce and spread around the tank slowly on the sand and rocks near the sand. To beging with as some are a deep red i thought they were an algae, ops: , but after visiting a lfs and seeing some in there, i have realised what they are and have been reading up on the best way to get rid of them.![]() I have read that you can siphon them out but does not always work, as they produce asexually so if you leave one they still come back, or you can use Myxazin, ut i am a bit wary of this. But i then read a thread about Salifert's Flatworm eXit, andit just seemed to have good reactions. So do you think i should give it a go? Andrew |

The thing you have to remember about all of the various flatworm killing potions is that they may be reef-safe but the dead flatworms are NOT. They release a reddish toxin when they die. This has to be removed as quickly as possible.
You should try to physically siphon out as many flatworms as possible before starting to kill them. Then you want to siphon out the dead flatworms as fast as possible. It is always a good idea to be ready to do a major water change (40%) if necessary. Once the flatworms have expired, you would want to add lots of fresh carbon to your sump. All of these precautions may or may not prove necessary, it all depends on exactly how large your flatworm population is.
