Maxi-Jet 1200 vs. Penguin 1140?
What about the Penguin 1140's, is anybody using these? They have 300 gph. I called my LFS today and Penguin is the only brand they sell. So I assume they have 1140's.

Those are MUCH larger then the Maxi Jets... Don't spend the extra cash at teh LFS you can get MJ1200 for 18-20 bux online. the 1140 is prob 25-30 at the LFS right?

i use three of the penguin 1140 on my 80gal. i got them because we sell them at work, so after my employee discount, they weren't too much. they pump alot, but they dont have the suction cup bracket like the maxijet has, instead they have a hang on bracket, also a separate single suction cup bracket, but i dont use it. they are sort of big, especially with the strainers on them, but they work. maxijets are excellent, if we sold them at work then thats what i would have gotten for sure, but the penguins work well also.

Ok thanks Leddy, As of now I think I'll be getting the Maxi-jets. Should be a little easier to hide. ![]() |

Ordered the Maxi-Jet power heads last night. Got them from Marine Depot. Got them for $18.95. Went ahead and got 2 nd day delivery so I could get them tomorrow afternoon. That will give me something to do this weekend.
