fungia coral questions...requirments..
i was curious about these corals?. in terms of what it needs and what not.
i've read that they need to be in sand, and fed from time to time. please post !! thanks ![]() |

Yes, they should be placed on the sand bed. Of the two that I have one of them moves around some and the other does not. The one that moves is moving into areas that have stronger light but that means that it is constantly up against the front glass and I have to move it back a little to clean the glass.
Both of mine eat constantly. Every time I feed the tank they eat anything and everything that lands on them as long as they can get it down before one of the fish steals it. They can move food from their perimeter to their mouths in less than a minute.

thanks..
how deep will the sand bed need to be?.. suffice to the point it can support the movement and weight of the fungia w/o being disturbed? thanks again. |

i have one on a 4" bed and it does very well. i was just using about 3 watts per gallon and it did really well. i am currently upgading to about 10 watts to do some sps so only atenics on and it looks great .

I have all my fungias all on the sandbed except for the smaller ones that are still attached to the rockwork. I feed mine once a week and i regard them as very easy and forgiving LPS coral. I have noted that the Helifungia is a tad difficult i lost mine for no apparent reason after about a year and ime led to believe they are very difficult to maintain . |
