Do you have any Cerith snails? Looks like egg masses that were deposited by on of those snails. I happened to witnessed mine doing it at night and it sure didn't look like the average Cerith snails eggs to me.They lay eggs more in the spiral pattern most of the time but not in my tank. Here's my poor attempt at night photography and the pic I took the next morning.

zhenya,
Yes I do have certh snails. Did you end up with any snails, from those. Or is there something that should be done with the eggs, or just left alone. I could put them in a quari tank possible? Thanks for the help Nick

In short NO, I have not seen any baby snails in my tank from those or any other snail that laid eggs before. I'm not sure if Cerith has free swimming larval stage or not of hand but I can look it up in my references. The only snail that ever reproduced in my tank was the Stomatella varia. I have Nerite snails that laying eggs constantly on the back glass but I know for a fact that reproduction is impossible without setting up a small containers and caring and feeding velliger larvae away from the main tank. If you are interested in how to raise snails from larval stage, I have some material that I can fax to you if you give me a fax number. It was sent to me by a certain professor when I was thinking of setting up a Nerite factory ![]()
