Question on adding more LR

My tank is currently a 55 gal with ~45 LB of LR
total asortment of critters for cleaning
1 Yellow tang
2 Yellow tailed damsels
1 cleaner shrimp
1 green star polyp

Hand on skimmer and filter.
265 watt PC

I would like to add another 40LBS of LR to my system.
can I add the extra rock to my tank with out removing all the fish and critters? or will adding even cured rock with a overnight shipping be to much for my tank.?

I do have a quarintine 12 gal tank set up but it only has a hang on filter, heater, and no skimmer.... I could catch the tang, but the damsels are in the tank for ever...

does any one have any suggestions.?

Nick

Nick,

If you get fully cured liverock, I think you will be ok myself. There will be some die-off but the your tank should be able to handle it ok.

To be safe when you get the rock, go by the smell. If it is really bad, then I would not add it to the tank. However if it smells ok (does not stink) then go ahead and add it.

Really, I think it will be fine. I have added fully cured liverock to my existing tank with no problems, and that was after removing at least 50% of my previous rock structure. Again, just give it the old "sniff test" when it arrives and go from there. If you've ever caught a whiff of uncured liverock, you'll know it!

Yeah, no doubt. Uncured LR smells like a grabage dump in the middle of July. Reekcity!
