Bubble Algea

I think we have bubble algea. There are 3 blackish/gray semi-transparent bubbles on one the live rocks. If so I've heard I wouldn't want it, why? What's so bad about it?

Assuming it is one of the Valonia species, it can get out of control and end up all over the place. If those are the only ones you can see, you may be better off taking the rock that has them out of the tank, gently removing the bubbles (rinse well if they burst) and then replacing the rocks.

I agree. Removing them very gently with tweezers (outside of the tank) is a good method.

Cool

How long has your tank been set up for? Is the algea slimmy?

Our tank has been up since 12/31/03. The bubbles are not slimmy, I removed them so I guess I will be okay.
