In defense of damsels
![]() I think the damsels get a bit of a bad rap. Sure there are a lot of nasty ones, but there are some good ones that don't get talked about much. I've had this Talbot damsel for about a year and I love it. He's non-aggressive but refuses to allow himself to be bullied--an admirable quality. Eats anything. Very hardy. And nice looking--the picture doesn't really do him justice. Here you can read an article by Bob Fenner about why Talbot's is the ideal reef damsel: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/c_talboti.htmAnyone else have good experiences with damsels? Some of the other members of the genus Chrysiptera are supposed to be less aggressive than most. Just wanted to let people know that there are other "good" damsels besides green chromis.

This guy is one of the most beautiful of the damsels IMO. They are not aggressive but not easy bully either. They breed in my tank.

Minh,
I also really like the look of the yellowtail damsel (Chrysiptera parasema), and in fact am planning on one for my new tank. They are also supposed to be one of the less agressive damsels. That is a really beautiful picture too!

Are you attempting to get another one through a wholesaler or through a vendor online?I'm goin back and forth and checking the Anemone/Clownfish forum on RC because I'm trying to raise these darn Premnas eggs. So much space needed, so little time, and lots of work. I'm happy with my rose bubble right now, I may try a gigantea later on. I've been hearing really bad stories as of late, as they don't come in healthy in the beginning. Let me know when you find another one. - Elmo |
