    water change

    hey everyone!

i will be moving my 30gal tank over to my bros room soon, becuase of construction that will be going on in my room. so i need to know if it would be good to do a water change before i moove it, or after ive moved it? i have not done a water change yet since i set my tank up, this is why i am asking if i should do one now or after it has been moved?

When you move it, save as much water as possible with the LR's. When you fill it back up, add some new/premixed/24hrs.old saltwater. I'd say add about 10-15% new water to the existing, established water. Dump whatever old water you don't reuse. Others might have a better solution aswell.

i thought of just emptying out alomost all but 5 or so gallons into a rubbermaid tub, carry the tube over to the other room, and put all the old water back in, and the next day maybe do a 5% water change, this whole switch will be really quick probably all done in less then an hour.

That sounds like a good idea. Some things you may want to consider, if you have a deep sand bed, try not to disturb too much of it when you're taking your rocks out. If you have corals, maybe place them in a separate container other than the rubbermaid, since rocks may damage them during the quick move. I would take all the corals out first, then the rocks next, then the fish(es). It will not hurt to have new make up water (new saltwater) ready before you move. Better to have more water, than not enough water. Can't wait to see tank pics.

i was thinking of leaving the rock in the tank, all i am planning on doing is emptying out the tank real quick into a tub, carry the tank over to the next room with the rock still in it, and just put all the water back, this whole witch will be VERY QUICK, i am only going across the hall, and its only 30gals
