Reefer769,

Would it be possible to raise your powerhead(s) up so the top is just at the waters surface...? Maybe this way your snails would enjoy being on top..

I have snail all over mine at times also, but no problems with noise yet...

Nick

its not possible to higher it, and the powerhead is about an inch away from the glass so when the snails are on the powerhead it vibrates on the glass and makes this really annoying noise.wish i could make some sort of overflow for it, but i plan on doing a sump later on, so the overflow compartment idea would be a waste.

What kind of powerhead is this? Is there a way to put a suction cup on it which will keep it from coming in contact with the glass?

I have the exact same problem, I run maxi-jets.

Luckily my snails only climb up on the PH about once a week, its still terribly annoying though.

I just take a quick look around the ph's right before i go to bed, and if any of my turbos are around it, I remove them and place tham as far away from the ph's as possible.

I'm considering closed loops instead of the ph's, I think it would take care of the noise.

its a maxijet, and its the intake pump for my CPR bak pak, so thats why it would be impossible to moove it up, and the pump is really close to the glass, and they always make this noise(really annoying).
