What is your lighting? That sebae anemone is bleached a bit, I would feed it a little.

Nice tank!

It looks bleached to me as well and I'd try to feed it as much as it would take.
This will insure that it can have nutritional needs met and not die. Recovery is usually a bit longish with this species but it is possible with proper care and especially proper diet.
Nice tank otherwise.Good luck with everything!

Thanks for the tips, I did not realize there was a problem with my sebae anemone... It might be the white balance on my camera... The anemone has not changed since I picked it up from the LFS (in color anyways)... It seems to have a very light tan hue to it and reacts nicely to touch... It is moving up and down and seams to have attached to the bottom of my tank.

The Clowns love to play around it all day and lay in it as soon as the light go off.
It takes 1/8 - 1/4 inch peices of shrimp very fast...

Is there any other specific foods or additives I should give to ensurer good health of my sebae anemone...

Thanks all
Nick

Hi Nick,

It is hard to tell from the photo but my Heteractis crispa looked just like yours close to 4 years ago. It took mine about a year to regain the zooxanthellae with regular feedings and I did not have a clownfish at all for that time period. If it takes shrimp then fine, give it to it but give it more then a 1/4" piece at the time. You can slowly increase amount of food and keep an eye on your anemone if food is consumed or regirgitated or released.
The size of its tentacles(shrunken a bit) worries me but perhaps you took a pic at a bad time

Here's what mine looks like today..., it takes about 5-6 whole silversides at one time and probably more if I gave it

As far as additives, no, I wouldn't bother with any.You can soak food in some vitamins or selcon once in a while but other then that I don't dose anything except Ca++ and Alk via Calcium reactor. All other normal reef tank chemistry should be maintained(like PH, salinity and temperature) and your anemone will be OK.

Thanks for the tips...

I feed it two 1/2 inch peices a few minutes ago, it took them in within seconds. I'm going to give it one more in a bit...

On a side note for anyone, I have a green star polyp which was doing great, until a few days after I cut it into two parts... it has not really fully opened up since... I have noticed what seems to be brown algae growing on both of them...

I was thinking of taking them out and trying to brush off this brown growth, in hopes of improving there health. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on this problem...? It is my understanding that they are very hardy and can take a lot...?

Thanks again
Nick

2-65 watt Actinic

and I have started dripping lime water (Ball's pickling lime)
1 tsp per gal for the makeup water at night...
