Shrimp in my tank....

Ive got some small aptasia's in my reef tank and was wondering if peppermint shrimp would be ok in my tank. Ive got 2 lyretail anthias' and a laboutes wrasse so i was wondering if these guys would make an expensive meal out of a pep. shrimp. ive tried killing them w/ other methods but when im gone for weeks at a time its difficult to make sure theyre dead when im only around for a weekend. every time i come back the one i tried to blast w/ hot h20 is still there and two other baby ones are right next to them. so im looking for another way to rid myself of them or at least keep them in check a little until i can permanantly kill them.

The peppermint shrimp should be safe with the fish you have. These guys sometimes eat Aiptasia. Eventually. I have never had Aiptasia or peppermint shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni). I do have a pair of Lysmata amboinensis in my tank with an orchid dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani) and so far at least the dottyback hasn't bothered them.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that I have three Cirrhilabrus spp. wrasses and none of them ever bother the cleaner shrimp either, so I don't think your C. laboutei would be a problem for the peppermints.

Thanks for your response ninong.....i havent added anything to my tank in a long time and then recently i came home and found 3 aptasia's on a rock that ive had for almost a year now so i have been blasting it and killed 2 off....and thought i killed the third....2 weeks later i came home (this weekend) and find about 8 tiny ones in the same general area and my dad doesnt have the time to play w/ the tanks or devote an hour each day to looking for microscopic aptasias like i have when i come home so Im just hoping I get lucky and I get one that has the taste for them because its going to be 3 more weeks before I get to come back and try to wax these suckers. Thanks for the advice.
