Of course the name is wrong. I hope that didn't come from your biology teacher? There are 368 different species of Acropora according to Veron, 1986, or only 114 different species according to Wallace, 1999, or 182 different species according to Veron, 2000, (he revised the taxonomy), and none of them is called Acropora snow white.

The reason white growing tips are common is because the corallites are growing rapidly and lack zooxanthellae.

Here is a little secret link that gives you access to the same database as the Corals of the World companion CD: http://whelk.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/coralsearch.php Choose Acroporidae for Family and Acropora for genus and then select whatever else you know about the species you are looking for before hitting the search button. Click Indo-Pacific because I believe there are only three species of Acropora in the Atlantic/Caribbean.

No, because there are several species that look just like that. I am fairly confident that the genus is Acropora, however.
