did some research

i did some research and found out that cpr overflows arent that great. i read that any overflow that needs a pump to keep the flow going will fail at some point, so what other overflow would anyone recommend i get? thanks

Essentially, any overflow requires a pump to keep it overflowing. If the return pump in the sump quits, water wont get back into the tank above, and the water level will drop until it no longer overflows...

CPR's can be bad at this and people use a pump to keep it flowing or to start the overflow back up after a power failure. If the pump doesn't start up but your return pump does, you have real problems.

To remedy this, you should look for a continuous syphon overflow; Life Reef makes one of the most reliable but remember there is always a chance that any syphon driven overflow will fail; thus the reason for many people suggesting drilled tanks which can only fail if the drain becomes clogged.

I use a CPR overflow myself and have not had any issues with it. I use a MJ1200 located in my sump to restart the siphon in the even it is ever lost. I think as long as you are aware that this pump is needed and make sure you have a good set-up, you will not have any trouble either.
