Tech -I with green star polyps - help!
I read that Pachyclavularia violacea (green star polyps) is possibly adversely affected by the Lugol's solution of Iodine.
I am using TECH-I, which is potasium Iodide, the same ingredient as in Lugol's solution. I add about 2-3 teaspoons/week/75 gallons. All other soft corals love it and grow without stopping. Can the TECH-I be the reason why my star polyps stopped expanding for the last three days? I've had this colony for about 4 months and everything was ok unil about a week ago. Anyone experienced the same problem? Please help. I am thinking of doing 25 % water cahnge and stop using TECH-I. What do I use instead? Thanks |

Generally speaking G S P grow like weeds and do often close up for a few days. However since you just started dosing iodine, you should check your iodine level and see if it is at a correct leveel. Is Tech 1 in a time released form? A water change is a good idea and go slow with any future additions.
