90 gal Startup help
Hello,
Wanted to run by the forum what I did so far with my new 90 Gal. soon-to-be reef tank to make sure I am on the right track. Mostly concerned with lighting at the moment. So here it is:
I have a 4' 90 Gal tank. With 1200 Cascade canister filter, protein skimmer, power head pump for added water flow, 40 lbs. of live rock, 3 small fish, and 110 total watt compact florescent lightening.
Intentions are to get up to at least 90 lbs. of live rock, I want both soft and hard corals eventually. I am going up 300 more watts of light as well.
I also had a question about my hermit crabs . . .
I was wondering, would scarlet hermit crabs be harmful to my corals, snails, clams, or star fish? Anybody experience problems with scarlet hermits?
How am I doing so far. With the added intentions, will I be good. To support delicate corals should I add even more light, or is this ample once I also add the BLUE lights? If I need more, how much more?
I welcome all suggestions. I am a perfectionist, and want to know what to improve. Thank you so much in advance.
