Aquascaping

Hi everyone. I've just started setting up a 55 gallon tank that will eventually be a reef tank. I've been browsing threads for a week or so, and I've already acquired an incredible amount of useful information.

I have a question about aquascaping. I've noticed that some people use PVC behind their rock structures. Is there anything special that needs to be done to the PVC before it is placed in the tank (to disinfect etc?)

Hi tuck224, Welcome to Reefland!

Nothing special needs to be done. If the PVC is dirty, just clean it under freshwater without the use of any chemicals. If you are glueing PVC together for use as a rock structure or even for your tank plumbing, it's a good idea to give the glue 24 hours to completel dry before actually using it in production.
