Well, here it is. I finaly finished the plumbing of my new 50gal tank. Sump, skimmer, pump, and standpipe and cabinet. Man what a project. Just fresh water running in it right now, testing for leaks and any problems, all seems ok right now. I'm sure thankful to whoever invented the standpipe, man what a diffence, nice and quiet
. take a look at the pictures and let me know what you guys think. If one of you are using a standpipe, look at mine and let me know if the water level looks to be to high??

Very nicely done! Is that a SQWD in the overflow? Did you have the tank built and the overflow designed to fit it in there or just lucked out?

I got very lucky...I put the SQWD in first and didn't think I would have enough room for a standpipe. Then I started it up, man what a horrible noise. Whoever said Niagera Falls wasn't kiddin. I quickly got on line, looked up standpipes, made a list of materials, and ran to the hardware store. I couldn't find schedule 26 pvc anywhere, so I had to use schedule 40, but it worked fine. I put the standpipe together, and it just fit.
. Day 2 and no major problems yet. The only thing I noticed that needs fixing is condensation build up in the cabinet, because I have it closed up. any suggestions other than reopening the back of the cabinet?

I think it is going to have to have a vent of some kind. You may be able to cut a 4" round hole in the back and put a canopy fan in it facing out (drawing air from inside the stand blowing it out) and that will probably work.

Thanks Scott, I think I'll get a fan, that Velocity return pump runs very warm and may be what is causing it to be very humid in the cabinet.
I also noticed that i have a very small leak in my sump outlet. The bulkhead is tight, maybe I tightened it to much? On Monday I'll be draining it and moving all my LR, corals, and saltwater from my old setup to this one. Hope everything goes o.k., I expect there to be a little die off from my live rock, but I'm hoping the tank won't recycle its self for the sake of my fish and corals. wish me luck
