Clean garbage cans, buckets, ziplock bags for the fish(double bag). If only apart a couple of hours it is not much of a problem. Keep fish bags in a cooler that has had warm water in it.

Hey Reefer,

I just moved my tank to another room last night. It is a smaller tank like yours. I made up some fresh saltwater so that I could combine the tank move with a water change. I netted the fish out and put in a bucket of tank water with a couple PVC hideouts. Used buckets, rubbermaid containers, and a powerhead to move the water. Left the substrate in the bottom of the tank and moved it intact. Total downtime was less than 2 hr. HTH.

Just grab a nice 32 gallon garbage can from the store, drain the tank into the can and a couple buckets move... then refill it. No MAJOR operation there. If you were going Cross country, or to a new home THEN you would have a PROJECT!!!

It just so happens that in the next 6 months I will be moving back to Arkansas from NC. Unless I take on another tank as a project all I will be moving will be 2 20 gallon tanks. What is the best way to go about this?
