Corals Sliming?????
There is this thread like slime hanging on my corals and some of my Live Rock throughout the tank. What the hell is it? This is the second time in the past month they do this.

Hi aldog51, Welcome to Reefland!
When corals are reported as "sliming" it typically means that something is very wrong with the water quality and the corals are dieing. This is usually caused by a sudden change in salinity, temperature or other critical water parameter. From your post however, I have no idea if this is what your experiencing or some other "slime" problem such as a break out of dinoflagellates, which can appear as some type of slime, can sometimes be toxic and a real pain to eradicate. I dont think they are dying because they are wide open and very full of color.

Sounds like an algae problem to me then, whether dino's or another form of slime algae. I know it's difficult but could you be more descriptive on the problem?

[It is a translucent type slime that looks like mucus or something. I read that it might be a defense mechanism when the corals want to dominate a specific area they will try to cover their neighbor with this slime/mucus to try and kill it for more space. Could be?? I will post an updated pic on my tank as soon as I get home and you be the judge on the spacing provided for each individual. My water parametersare fine. Nitrate - 5-10PPM Ammonia - 0PPM Nitrite- 0PPM and PH - 8.2 - 8.4 Salinity 36ppt or 1.025 temperature 78.5 and phospate is a bit high about 30-40 QUOTE=Poseidon]Or maybe a picture?[/quote]

maybe moved?
Any chance you've handled the corals recently - I find that if I'm in there moving things around, a number of the corals I touch to move have the mucus like stuff.
