Damn! I hate killing things :(

A buddy of mine broke his tank down a few weeks ago and I took some livestock off of his hands. Nothing major really..a few polyp colonies & some shrooms. He did however have a Goniopora as well that I reluctantly placed in my tank for obvious reasons.

Well, sure enough it's starting to whither away and I am about to pull it. I just hate killing anything as it is still alive and will technically die by my hand. I know there is nothing I can do & it's not my fault but it still sucks

I am really upset with my buddy for even buying it. I told him not to but he didn't listen. As long as there are a$$hats like him,LFS will be more than happy to continue to stock them. such a shame beautiful creatures removed from their habitat for our pleasure. for what? a year? 18 months if it's lucky? As soon as the creaure is collected it is sentenced to death

Goniopora is such a beautiful coral IMO, so the temptation to attempt one is too strong sometimes. A few hobbyists have had long-term success with them, but the vast majority not. I hope that eventually we can figure out exactly what the successful people are providing, so that this coral will become less difficult to keep. I'd like to try one someday if the odds of success were better. Sorry you had to pull yours.

Here's an interesting Goniopora article by Julian Sprung with some of his theories:
