Hi folks,
I was feeding both of my tanks this morning using my usuall mush but with added frozen type cyclop-eeze this time and noticed some positive reactions from vertually all the inhabitants. But the most interesting was the way acroporas went bonkers when I dumped the stuff in the water,I observed my A.tenuis producing long tentacles that I never seen before(when I used freeze-dried type cyclop-eeze).Some other corals in my other tank, like the Caulastrea sp. was very actively feeding as well, even my large fishes was trying to eat it(they mostly ignored the other type). I took some pictures and will add them to my post but l like to hear if anyone else using this food and their observations. PS.I hope you able to see small red dots in the first pic, those are the cyclop-eeze captured by the acropora.

And yes, I usually mix it in with other food like the mysid shrimp and vibra-grow pellets. The frozen type is much better in terms of use, though,IMO.

Do you just thaw out the frozen piece before adding it to the tank?

This frozen cyclop-eeze came packed like a candy bar(one long piece) so I just slice small piece off and thaw it in the double shot glass together with other food.It does stay in the water column instead of just floating around and eventually doing over the overflow like that freeze dried did. The only reason I bought that freeze dried is becouse to buy the frozen product you had to buy like this huge amount that would last you a life time. I still have a package of golden pearls that I bought two years ago Thankfully, it is available in much smaller packages now.

I am using the frozen stuff and I have watched to see if any corals capture it, but have not seen it happen. Maybe my eyesight just isn't good enough. My fairy wrasse sure goes nuts over it, though. It does stay in the water column nicely.

I wish I had a better camera to take closer images becouse I've never seen my acroporas react this way to any other food that I put in the tank. I have 6 chromis in that tank and they literally go nuts over this stuff as well.

Hi Gene!
How long have you been adding Cyclop-eeze? Have you noticed growth or coloration changes in your corals?

I've been using freeze dried variety for couple of month but frozen type about a week so I can't say anything about the growth or the coloration changes. If I see anything in this regard I'll be sure to post my observations.

I had a great fish response to my starting to use the frozen cyclop-eeze. Now that I am restocking my 120g tank with sps frags I have been adding it right after halides go out. I go back about 30min. later and everything is so polyped out feeding it's crazy. My poor little green chromis are the only fish that try to capture it in the water column.
I have great color and exceptional growth but don't know whether to attribute it to a mix of things or cyclop-eeze. Probably both. |

I too found that cyclopeeze is eagerly taken by my acros. Zhenya... the long tentacles that you refer to are called messenterial threads. My acros send them out as well. They are amazing to watch.

Hey Gene,
The Cylopeez is good stuff. I've been using it for a little over a year. All my fish go crazy for it and I've even seen some of the acropora polys capturing it and bringing it in. My Caulastrea thows out it's feeders too, just like yours, within minutes of me dumping the cyclopeeze in the tank. |

Is it frozen type? The only reason I ask is to find out if there is any difference in response from one type to another. Will I see you at MACNA in September? ![]()

We just got ahold of a bar of frozen Cyclop-Eeze and everything seemed to enjoy the treat. If they could only figure out a way to get some large clumps to hold together the fish would have enjoyed it more; as it is it took them 5 minutes just to get enough of it to total a bite.
