Please Help!!!
I made a post about my carpet anemone and have had no response into what is the problem with my poor carpet anemone.
I just got home and it looks as if something is eating its flesh/skin. It is torn up quite badly. Should I take him out and write him off or is there any hope that he may get better and heal himself? Thanks for any ideas and suggestions. |

Well, I dunno anything about carpet anemones, but ... if it looks like something is eating him, it probably is. And yes you should remove him, but to a hospital tank, because he won't have a chance at healing while he is being attacked... at least that is my guess. I'm a firm believer in "It's not over til it's over" .. which means ... While it's alive, there is Hope.
I have heard that critters heal better with the presence of caulerpa in the water too, tho I am not actually 100% certain as to whether that is a certain type or all of them... I had a sick pyjama cardinal, and with grape caulerpa in the water, he recovered pretty quickly..... Can't actually guarantee it was the caulerpa, but the caulerpa was the only thing different from when he got sick. Maybe someone who knows carpet anemones will offer something more concrete.

Does it's foot look like it's rotting away? Is it unattached? loss of color? does it look like it's puking it's insides out?
all these are signs of a dying anemone and there is really nothing that can be done to save it (as far as I know) what are your water perameters? what kind of lighting are you running? I doubt anything is eating it but what other livestock is in your tank? Mark |
