Barnacles in a reef tank?
Does anyone know anything about Barnacles? Are they safe in reef tanks? What would I feed it/them if they are? Any info appreciated, since the only info I could find online seems to point to the fact that they're harmless (most species') but none of the articles stated whether or not they could/would survive in a home aquarium, nor whether they are safe around corals.

Many wild SPS colonies come in with barnacles on them and they survive without any supplemental feeding. There are many different types and I have no experience with the larger ones that you see the skeletons of for sale. They are filter feeders that extend feathery tentacles to capture small suspended particles from the water column. I'm not sure if the are Zooplankton or Phytoplankton (or both) eaters. if you get one you might try to target feed both.
Regards, Kevin

Great, so they wouldn't be a threat to my corals then. I do feed both phyto and zoo to my tank already, so hopefully they'll be happy
