one more quick question. on this rock their were some baby snails, and a star fish. i dont really care about the snails. but does anybody know any good sights as to get info about starfish. its only about 1" big, its yellow with some dark stripes on each arm. i have no idea what kind of starfish it was on the rock. so any sights or info would be cool. thanks

The picture makes it very difficult to make out any details of the coral.

Question

i have a question on what to put in for the leather?? the guy we got it from says he puts in iodine and magnesium for his. but would the trace elements we already have work just as well. or do we need to put those things in at all. currently we are dripping kalk, but i dont think that does anything for the iodine. could be wrong not to sure. any advice here would be helpful. thanks

Newbie here, so take this with a grain of salt... But everything I have read on this subject, aside from being the center of an apparently ongoing rather large debate, seems to point to supplementation in general being unnecessary. The kalk drip *should* take care of all of your needs, however, if you are unsure, get a good (salifert is the only 'good' one I know of) test kit, and find out what your water/tank's level is for that particular substance. I have also read that iodine is usually added to fish foods, so if you have fish, and feed them, you are adding iodine each time.

I am sure someone else with more experience will chime in and give you advice.

I will go out on a limb and state that most all of us add nothing but kalk or a 2 part additive to maintain CA/alk levels. nothing else. we get everything else we need from out fresh salt mix when we do water changes
